Airlink flies SA20 Cricket Championship teams

Airlink was named the official airline partner of the Betway SA20 Cricket Championship, taking place this January and February in SA.

The Betway SA20 Cricket Championship is here and Airlink recently announced that it would be the official airline partner of the tournament for its duration.

According to a statement, from Wednesday, 10 January to Saturday, 10 February, Airlink will fly the player squads, coaches, management and support staff of the six competing franchise teams between their various matches.

The teams, namely the Durban Super Giants, the Eastern Cape Sunrisers, the Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, the Paarl Royals and the Pretoria Capitals will travel to their matches in Durban, Cape Town, Gqeberha, Johannesburg and Paarl onboard Airlink flights. 

“The SA20 is a fantastic opportunity for the six teams to test their mettle against their rivals, with matches being played at some of the world’s most iconic pitches.” Airlink CEO and Managing Director, Rodger Foster said.

“It’s also a fine time for Airlink to bowl over cricketers and fans with our great customer service, connections, and convenient flights to some of the other hit-for-six attractions and destinations we fly to in Southern and Eastern Africa as well as Madagascar and St Helena island,” Foster added.

CAPE TOWN TO ST HELENA TO GET LIFT OFF IN 2024

Airlink also recently announced that they would be resuming flights to and from the Mother City and the island of St Helena this year.

As reported by tourism update, direct flights between Cape Town and St Helena will take off from December 2024 until March 2025. These flights will add to the existing weekly flights between St Helena and Johannesburg, which the airline also operates.

BIG DEMAND

Rodger Foster, Airlink CEO and Managing Director, said that over the years they have seen a rise in demand for travel to and from St Helena.

“In the six years since Airlink was awarded the contract to operate air services between St Helena and the African mainland, we have seen a steady post-COVID recovery and rise in demand for travel to and from the island,” Foster said.
