AmaZulu King Misuzulu fires legal team after court loss

King Misuzulu reinstates previous lawyers to aid in his succession battle after his recognition was invalid.

AmaZulu’s King Misuzulu has parted ways with his legal team after losing a court case in the North Gauteng High Court.

Last week Judge Norman Davis declared President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recognition of Misuzulu as King was invalid and unlawful.

The case was brought on by the King’s older half brother Prince Simakade.

According to Scrolla AfricaMisuzulu was represented by Advocate Ross Richards SC in court. He was since parted ways with Richards and reinstated Strauss Daly Attorneys.

Strauss Daly were previously hired by the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi in his capacity as the Traditional Prime Minister to take care of the Crowns affairs.

However, they were fired after the King’s dispute with Buthelezi over the leadership of Ingonyama Trust Board.

In a letter to Strauss Daly Attorneys Misuzulu says, “I as King of the Zulu nation, in my name and on behalf of the royal family, had previously requested legal support when the Crown and the Zulu nation was subjected to brutal attacks on a multiplicity of fronts.”

“I as His Majesty, the royal family and the Zulu nation continue to compliment Strauss Daly for their firewalls and tireless effort which assisted the Crown, royal family and the Zulu nation to stave off disaster with full time dedication and without funds to support your legal intervention.”
