8-hour power outage in parts of Johannesburg during Christmas week

Amidst the festive atmosphere of Christmas week, certain areas in Johannesburg will face a power outage lasting for 8 hours.

Residents and businesses in certain areas of Johannesburg are advised to prepare for a planned power interruption scheduled for Thursday, 28 December 2023.

The outage is set to begin at 8:00 and is expected to last until 16:00, affecting various locations.

AREAS TO BE AFFECTED IN JOHANNESBURG

The areas to be impacted include Tsutsumani ext 7 & 8, Lombardy East, River Park, and sections of Alexandra from 2nd Ave to 14th Ave, between London Road and Hofmeyr Street.

City Power has deemed this interruption necessary to conduct essential maintenance work on the electricity network as part of an ongoing commitment to enhancing service reliability.

Customers are reminded to treat their electricity supply points as live, as power restoration may occur at any time during the maintenance period.

The temporary inconvenience is a result of City Power’s continuous efforts. To improve and maintain the efficiency of the electrical infrastructure.
