ANC calls for peace following Gift of the Givers head’s death
The ANC strongly condemned the killing of Ahmed Abbasi, the head of Gift of the Givers in Gaza and calls for peace and ceasefire.
The African National Congress (ANC) firmly denounced Ahmed Abbasi’s killing, Gift of the Givers’ Gaza head, stating he died on duty.
Abbasi was fatally attacked after a prayer last Thursday, according to IOL News.

Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri, ANC spokesperson, stressed Abbasi’s vital role in Palestinian humanitarian aid, emphasising he was not just a statistic but a committed peace advocate.
ANC CALLS FOR PEACE FOLLOWING THE DEATH OF THE GIFT OF THE GIVERS HEAD IN GAZA
In Bhengu-Motsiri’s words, “As the ANC, Abbasi is not a statistic but an army of martyrs committed to a peaceful world and humanity.”
She acknowledged him as part of a group striving for global efforts towards a free Palestine.

Ganief Hendricks, the leader of Al-Jama-ah, also paid tribute to Abbasi, expressing shock that he fell victim to a government engaged in weeks-long bombings in Gaza.
Hendricks called for accountability for those responsible for the ongoing crimes in the Middle East.

Abbasi, a father of three, had served the people of Gaza with distinction since 2013,as the appointed head of the Gift of the Givers office.

He implemented multiple projects, including caring for orphans, widows, the elderly, and the ill.”
Sooliman said Abbasi delivered water through their desalination plants, distributed food parcels, provided hot meals, and upgraded damaged homes.
SA DEMANDS JUSTICE AND ICC PROBE INTO ALLEGED ISRAELI WAR CRIMES
The Gaza conflict claimed thousands of lives, prompting President Cyril Ramaphosa to seek an ICC investigation into alleged Israeli war crimes.
In response, South African civil society and political parties took to the streets, urging the government to cut ties with Israel.
