R56 000: Chris Brown pays SA rising star Naledi Aphiwe for sample
Local rising star Naledi Aphiwe has reportedly opened up about how she plans to use the money Chris Brown paid her for sampling her voice.
American superstar Chris Brown is said to have compensated South African rising artist Naledi Aphiwe after sampling her voice in his song titled Shooter from his latest album named 11:11 which was released Friday, 10 November.

The American R&B star had gushed over Naledi Aphiwe’s voice last year when she went viral for singing a soulful song in an African language. According to TshisaLIVe, the Run It hitmaker has paid the Mzansi singer a whopping $3000 (an estimated R56 000) after using her incredible voice in one of his latest songs.
“There are many people who are talented outside and he (Chris Brown) chose a child from a small city like mine. I appreciate him so much. People who didn’t know anything about Naledi Aphiwe today know her. It has changed my home situation. Everything is good now,” the South African artist was quoted as saying.

Aphiwe reportedly said she plans to buy a phone that will help her push her content further and also plans to use the money to fix her mother’s grave. “We weren’t able to do things the way we wanted when we buried her last year,” Aphiwe was quoted as saying.
In Chris Brown’s 11:11 album, he is said to have also featured Nigerian star Davido as well as Jamaican-born star Byron Messia, Billboard reported.
