Alfred Nevhutanda: Court grants order to freeze assets
The High Court has granted the Special Investigating Unit (SUI) a preservation order to freeze more assets belonging to Alfred Nevhutanda
The Special Investigating Unit (SUI) has recently obtained a preservation order from the High Court in Pretoria to freeze properties and luxury cars linked to the former National Lotteries Commission (NLC) and board chairperson, Professor Alfred Nevhutanda, Jacaranda FM reported.

SUI OBTAINS AN ORDER TO FREEZE PROFESSOR ALFRED NEVHUTANDA’S ASSETS
According to the publication, Professor Alfred Nevhutanda’s four properties in Polokwane and Makhado in Limpopo as well as his three luxury cars, estimated to be valued at around R14 million were included in the latest preservation order.

The SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago is said to have revealed the plans going forward regarding Nevhutanda’s frozen assets.
“All the property mentioned above represents the proceeds of unlawful activity as provided for in the Prevention of Organised Crime Act. Once forfeited, the property will be sold on public auction, and the NLC compensated for their losses,” Kganyago was quoted as saying.

In 2022, a judge previously granted a preservation order on Professor Alfred Nevhutanda’s multimillion-rand Pretoria home, furniture, along with the Vhutanda Investments company where he was the acting board director, Daily Maverick reported. The judge is said to have also instructed the SIU to initiate civil proceedings against the former long-time chairperson of the NLC board for secret profits improperly earned during his time as the NLC board chair.

The property was allegedly bought for approximately R27M with money from National Lotteries Commission” the SIU posted on its official Twitter account.
Legendary music producer Arthur Mafokate and Tsotsi actress Terry Pheto are some of the popular names that were also implicated in the NLC scandal.
