Despite losing in other courts, Prince Simakade will be hoping that the court will dismiss President Cyril Ramaphosa’s appointment of Misuzulu as King, a 2021 family meeting which nominated Misuzulu as the monarch, as well as the late Queen Regent Mantfombi’s will.
King Misuzulu will have the support of around 3000 Zulu maidens and amabutho (royal regiments) who will descend to the Pretoria CBD for the duration of the trial which is set down till Wednesday.
According to IOL, the King’s office sent a letter to the City of Tshwane requesting the use of a hall or park, not further than 3km from the court to accommodate the supporters.

The court case resumes just a month after the passing of Prime Minister Mangosuthu Buthelezi, who had backed Misuzulu’s appointment as King.
Unfortunately recent disputes between the King and the Prime Minister, saw the late Prince not sign an affidavit which forms part of the King’s support documents and evidence.
Buthelezi had chaired a 2021 family meeting, where Misuzulu was announced as the successor to his mother Queen Regent Mantfombi.

However the monarch team dismissed claims that his case was determined by the affidavit. Spokesperson Prince Africa Zulu is quoted as saying if it was just based on family meetings he would have no power.
“No judge will decide kingship on the basis of family meetings and affidavits; otherwise you will have a shadow king who will not rule with authority because he would pay allegiance to the person who supported him by an affidavit or family members who supported him”, says Zulu.
