The wait is nearly over for the best match of the season so far. DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns face last season’s runners-up Pirates at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday at 18:00.

With Pirates in the mud with four defeats on the bounce while Sundowns have 12 wins and one draw in 13 games in all competitions, Riveiro duly respects Kabo Yellow but is not afraid.

JOSE RIVEIRO EAGER TO FACE SUNDOWNS
Speaking to the media ahead of the showdown, Riveiro feels the game offers quality entertainment as the best teams in the Mzansi.
“It’s nice to play against Sundowns because they are a team that ask many different questions during the game as we [also] do, so I think it’s also attractive for them to play Pirates,” Riveiro said via Sowetan.

“It’s always a thing that after this game, both teams are better teams, in my opinion. It’s the first time that we meet them in the final [since he joined at the start of last season] and I think that will bring about differences in approaches or maybe not…I don’t know.

The Spaniard concluded by confirming there’s much respect between Pirates and Sundowns.
“We know each other very well. I think there’s big respect between us. That means we are both spending time analysing each other and trying to understand what we are both doing,” Riveiro added.
