The full moon is worth staying up late for.

According to the Sleep Foundation, the brighter moon can even be one of the reasons why some people can’t sleep.

But does the moon have anything to do with higher crime potential?

According to gardening guides, now is the perfect time of year to plant vegetables – although South Africa’s current weather might mean gardeners should wait until the weather clears up.

This isn’t the only thing to watch out for: the celestial event might also have an impact on criminal events.

DOES THE FULL MOON AFFECT CRIME?

According to a 1984 study, the full moon could increase the potential for criminal acts.

The moon doesn’t mean that people are more likely to commit crime. Unfortunately, the bright sky allows criminals to see better at night.

WHY CRIMES ARE MORE LIKELY

According to Science Direct, crime goes up during full moon events because people can simply see better.

It’s easier to commit certain crimes (like break-ins) when criminals don’t need added lights to see what they’re doing. Be more aware, and know when the next cycle is going to be!
