PayFast technical issue leaves retailers stranded
There are reports of a widespread PayFast technical issue that left many retailers stranded, unable to process payments this morning.
News outlets are reporting a PayFast technical issue that plagued retailers this morning (Wednesday 20 September 2023). This came in the form of a login error for merchants who use the service provider for payments.

While the PayFast technical issue appears to be resolved, it left retailers and shoppers in the lurch all morning. And it’s an identical technical issue to an outage that took place last week, Monday 11 September 2023.
PAYFAST TECHNICAL ISSUE
There are no reports as to what the cause of the technical issue may have been, or how many merchants were impacted. But it left those affected unable to transact and many took to social media to vent their frustration.

PayFast is credited as South Africa’s leading online payment processing portal. It services massive e-commerce companies such as Takealot, Shopify, Superbalist and Courier Guy, to name but a few. It provides support for Visa, Mastercard, BitCoin, Instant EFT and Zapper payments.
UNABLE TO LOG IN
The technical issue was logged at 04h00 on Wednesday 20 September 2023, claiming that some users were unable to log into their accounts to transact. PayFast took to social media to say that it was working to resolve the matter. It is understood that the technical issues were resolved by 11h00.
