Orlando Pirates fumble the bag on a red-hot striker?
Orlando Pirates are still keen to strengthen their squad but may have just missed out on a marquee striker target.
Orlando Pirates are on the verge of missing out on a marquee striker signing, according to reports.
ORLANDO PIRATES TO MISS OUT ON OMALA?
Jose Riveiro’s side was believed to be keen on prolific Kenyan striker Benson Omala at the start of the 2023-24 campaign. However, it now appears he’s got his heart set on a move to Europe. The Sea Robbers are still open to adding new faces to their squad before the 22 September deadline in order to compete on multiple fronts. Omala scored 26 times for Gor Mahia last term and is now attracting interest from Denmark.
“Pirates have been interested in Benson Omala who has been scoring goals in the Kenyan Premier League for Gor Mahia. But the issue with Pirates has to do with their foreign quota and only if they can make tweaks to the current squad can they add more foreign players from what I understand,” said the source via Soccer Laduma.
“There is a possibility that the player might go to Denmark as there is so much interest in him from one of the clubs there. The player’s handlers will be using the FIFA international break to possibly finalise a move,” the source added.

Although they might miss out on Omala, Pirates are enjoying the red-hot form of Zakhele Lepasa. The 26-year-old Bafana international is the first PSL player to hit double figures for goals this season.
Pirates confirmed their upcoming match against Mamelodi Sundowns has been moved to September 20th.
