Stealing business? SA reacts to Woolies R25 amagwinyas
Retail giant Woolies has been accused of stealing customers from kasi ladies after selling amagwinyas and dombolo.
For years now, South Africans have joked about Woolies and how their prices attract a certain upmarket crowd. Just a short while ago, the price of their rotiserrie chicken sent locals into a frenzy as they wondered what made the chicken so special. And now a social media user has headed online to share that the upper-class supermarket now sells amagwinyas.
In the comment section, many complained that the retailer is stealing customers from the women who usually sell the fried bread in the streets.

WOOLIES NOW SELLING AMAGWINYAS AT R25 FOR 4, SA REACTS
South Africans absolutely love fresh magwinyas and are known to scarf down the fried delicacies for breakfast with a slice of polony and cheese.
Because of this, many local men and women are able to make a decent living selling the food at around R2 a pop.

It looks like big brand Woolies also wants to get in on that action and is now selling a pack of four amagwinyas at R25.

STEALING CUSTOMERS?
In the comment section, many locals weighed in on the product. According to some of them, Woolies is trying to penetrate the middle class market.
Others said that they are stealing customers from the men and women who make a living selling the amagwinyas on the street.
“woolies is penetrating the middle class market,” one person wrote while another said:
“1.50 legwinya at kasi… With 25bucks i can buy 10 amagwinya and 10 white liver”
“Eishh and our moms businesses?” a third added.
