Nhlanhla Lux sentenced for housebreaking, injury to property
A Soweto man had filed a complained against Operation Dudula and it’s leader, Nhlanhla Lux after his home was ransacked by the group, which accused of selling drugs.
Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla Lux has been sentenced for housebreaking and malicious damage to property, 15 months after a Soweto resident laid a complaint against him. Victor Ramarafe approached authorities in March 2022 after claiming Dobsonville home was ransacked by Operation Dudula members who had accused him of selling drugs.

NHLANHLA LUX GETS SUSPENDED SENTENCES
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says Nhlanhla Lux, whose full name is Nhlanhla Lux Mohlauhi, was sentenced to two years imprisonment, wholly suspended for three years, on condition that he isn’t convicted for housebreaking
The Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court also sentenced him on one count of malicious injury to property and was also handed a five-year sentence, which was also suspended for three years.

OPERATION DUDULA LEADER ORDERED TO PAY UP
The court also ordered Nhlanhla Lux to pay Ramarafe R9,500 in cash for the damage to his property.
“The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirms that the complainant was compensated and the proof of payment of the amount ordred by the court was presented in open court on 24 August 2023,” the NPA’s Phindi Mjonondwane said.
Operation Dudula has blamed the EFF, saying they had a hand in Mohlauhi’s arrest.
“His arrest was a surprise to all of us. We know that the EFF pressured the police to arrest him. The EFF requested that Lux be arrested within seven days [after they opened a case against him]. We didn’t expect that he would be arrested the way he was. We believe that the EFF pressured the police to arrest him. It looks like they [police] are under pressure the way things are happening,” Operation Dudula’s secretary-general Zandile Dabula said at the time.
Even Mohlauli himself had claimed so, even pointing fingers at EFF leader Julius Malema, claiming he is jealous of him. But Malema has hit back, saying: “As we speak, I am busy at a farm in Limpopo monitoring pregnancy tests of cows. The next thing I hear is that I am the one who called for the arrest of Nhlanhla Lux. Where would I be getting such powers to do that? I don’t have time for small boys, and I don’t even want to waste my time on such useless people.”
