Thursday marks the FINAL day of the 15th BRICS Summit, which is currently underway at the Sandton Convention Centre.

BLOC INVITES SIX NEW MEMBERS, OPEN TO ADDING MORE
In an effort to increase their group’s worldwide power, the leaders of the BRICS invited Iran and five other nations, including the leading oil exporter Saudi Arabia, to join them.
In a joint news conference with the BRICS leaders on Thursday at their annual meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates will all become full members on January 2024.
The leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa all approved of the extension. The expansion will mark the first since 2010.

IRAN HAILS BRICS MEMBERSHIP AS ‘SUCCESS FOR FOREIGN POLICY’
On Thursday, a top advisor to the president of Iran welcomed the Islamic Republic’s upcoming membership in the BRICS bloc as a diplomatic victory.
Starting in 2024, Iran will join the other five nations as permanent members of the BRICS club, which is made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

BRICS country leaders claim that the bloc’s growth represents a turning point in the global economy of developing markets.
BRICS EXPANSION A TIPPING POINT IN GLOBAL ECONOMY, SAY BLOC LEADERS
In 2010, South Africa was given full membership in the BRICS organization, which has since changed its name from BRIC to BRICS. At that time, BRICS had last admitted a new member.

Talks to expand the BRICS have reportedly been ongoing for years, according to President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The bloc’s objective to promote global peace and development would be further strengthened by the new members, according to China’s state president, Xi Jinping.

BRICS ADOPTS JOHANNESBURG II DECLARATION
The Johannesburg II Declaration, a statement that captures major BRICS opinions on issues of global economic, financial, and political significance, was successfully endorsed by the 15th BRICS Summit.
Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of BRICS, made this announcement on Thursday during a press conference to reveal the results of the XV BRICS Summit.
“We endorsed the Johannesburg II Declaration, which embodies fundamental BRICS themes on issues of crucial global economic, financial, and political relevance. It exemplifies the shared principles and interests that drive our mutually beneficial cooperation as the five BRICS nations.
“BRICS as a whole is a heterogeneous collection of countries. A better world is the goal of this equitable collaboration of nations, the president added.
