China donates electricity equipment to South Africa
The world’s second-largest economy China, steps in and donates R167 million amid the Brics summit and South Africa’s electrical problems.
With an emphasis on connecting the two nations’ common commitment to eco-friendly, low-carbon, and climate-resilient growth. South Africa wants to strengthen its energy cooperation with China.
As important world leaders gather in Johannesburg for the 15th BRICS Summit in Sandton, Gauteng. President Cyril Ramaphosa welcomed President Xi Jinping on a state visit to Tshwane on Tuesday.

As the two presidents met, collaboration in a variety of disciplines took center stage.
DONATIONS MADE TO SOUTH AFRICA
SA News reported, President Ramaphosa extended his heartfelt gratitude to President Xi. For China’s acts of generosity and solidarity towards South Africa.

“South Africa deeply appreciates China’s support in addressing our current energy challenges. This includes the donation of emergency power equipment worth R167 million. Also availing a grant of approximately R500 million as development assistance.
“Energy cooperation with China is a recent development that we look to deepen. Particularly in line with our respective commitments to low-carbon, climate-resilient development,” the President said.

WHAT OTHER THINGS HAS CHINA HELPED SOUTH AFRICA WITH?
According to President Ramaphosa, South Africa and China have had a long-standing partnership. With China helping South Africa in its fight for freedom and democracy.
