Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker says his side is ready to make ‘life difficult’ for Orlando Pirates once more.

Stellies were drawn with the Buccaneers in the semi-final of the MTN8 after their impressive 1-0 win over SuperSport United.

The Cape side defeated Pirates in their opening league match of the season and will look to frustrate the Sea Robbers once more when the two meet in a two-legged semi-final.

Barker said that the Soweto giants will want to redeem themselves in the semis but the former University of Pretoria tactician warned it won’t be easy for Jose Riveiro’s charges.

BARKER READY FOR BUCS REDEMPTION

“They would like to redeem themselves, but yeah, coming to Cape Town is not easy. At home, we have to make sure that we stay in the game,” Barker told the media after his side’s grueling match against Matsatsantsa.

“Get something at home and go away to Orlando Stadium where they are very good and hopefully with something to hold on to.

“We’ve got to make it uncomfortable and difficult for them. Sometimes cup stories are fairy tale stories,” Barker added.

Since their opening round defeat, Pirates have been a team to beat, scoring nine times in two matches. On Saturday, the Sea Robbers trashed Sekhukhune United 5-0 at Orlando Stadium in the MTN8 quarter-finals..

Barker though, says each and every team in the semifinal is tough as he seeks to reach his first final

“When you’ve got Kaizer Chiefs, Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in the pot, no game would have been easy. So we’ve played Pirates this season already in the opener and we acquitted ourselves well,” said the former Tuks coach said.

“But we all know Pirates are a good team after they lost to us. I think they scored eight goals [nine] against Royal AM and Sekhukhune United.

“So they are a good team. It’s a tough draw for us, but if we want to win trophies and be champions at the end of the day, you have to beat good teams,” Barker added.
