Orlando Pirates reject Collins Makgaka has seemingly failed to impress at Stellies and has stopped training with the club.

The South African reported that the former Baroka star, Makgaka left Pirates after falling down the pecking order.

In the middle of the pre-season, Makgaka resurfaced at Stellenbosch also known as Stellies where he aimed to impress coach Steve Barker and his bench.

PIRATES REJECT MAKGAKA FAILS TO IMPRESS AT STELLIES

A local football publication reports that Makgaka has since stopped training with the Cape Winelands-based club, Stellies.

This comes after this publication reported that Barker admired the talented 27-year-old midfielder who was starved of regular game time at Pirates.

“Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Collins Makgaka failed to earn himself a move to Stellenbosch FC after recently training with the club, iDiski Times has learnt,” reports the football publication.

Having completed his switch from Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele at the start of the 2020/21 season upon their demotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, he struggled to find his place at Pirates.

After spending three seasons with the reigning MTN8 and Nedbank Cup champions, Pirates, Makgaka didn’t rise to the occasion.

His lack of impact at Mayfair led to the Soweto giants deciding against retaining his services and terminating his contract.

MIDFIELDER MAKGAKA RESURFACED AT STELLIES

With this publication having contacted the former AmaZulu and University of Pretoria coach, Barker, he said it was still early to decide on Makgaka’s future since he has not played competitive football for a while.

At the time, The South African reported that the Limpopo-born player was hoping to impress Barker and his technical team.

It was also speculated that Stellies were looking for a midfielder considering that they have lost the services of Junior Mendieta and Ibraheem Jabaar who joined Mamelodi Sundowns and Maccabi Petah Tikva respectively.

“Yes, Collins is training with us. He has just arrived. So, we will assess where he is,” Barker told The South African.
