Orlando Pirates have technically had two new signings announced officially during this week, and one of them is set to leave even before meeting his new teammates!

Pirates have completed the signings of young goalkeeper Siphamandla Gumede from Dondol Stars, as well as Lesedi Kapinga on a free from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Pirates announced the signings of Melusi ButheleziSephelo BaloniKatlego OtladisaPatrick Maswanganyi and Lesedi Kapinga who has just joined as a free agent following his release from Mamelodi Sundowns. Adding to that list are players the club did not make formal announcements of, which are Cebo Mchunu, a 21-year-old midfielder they signed from Bizana Pondo  as well as Samkelo Maseko in the ABC Motsepe League. Both players are believed to be on the loan list, with the Buccaneers management looking to park them at either a club in the DStv Premiership or the Motsepe Foundation Championship for next season.

Both Mchunu and Maseko are training with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Pretoria Callies with the view to signing for the club on a season-long loan. Now it is believed that yet another signing that has gone under the radar in Gumede, as been predicted and reported by this website is set to join them. According to iDiski Timesthe player is also set to make the step up from the ABC Motsepe League to to the Motsepe Foundation and the join one of the league’s new boys.

GUMEDE TO JOIN ORBIT COLLEGE ON LOAN FROM PIRATES

“Newly signed Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Sphamandla Gumede will join Orbit College on a season-long loan move, iDiski Times has been informed. With four goalkeepers already at the Buccaneers, namely Siyabonga Mpontshane, Sipho Chaine, Richard Ofori and Melusi Buthelezi, the 23-year-old new signing was immediately sent out on a season-long loan to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Orbit College.” Wrote the publication.

Gumede, who has penned a three-year deal with an option for two more at Pirates, will have the luxury of time on his hands, if he is to make an impression the Bucs management. The first step? Impressing at Orbit College and helping to keep them up?
