Those players putting pen to paper at Chiefs has been more or less an open secret for a while now, with fans and the football fraternity just waiting for the club to officially announce them. Looking at that list, three of the six in Chivaviro, Mmodi, Mdantsane and Potsane are capable of playing in offensive positions. But it looks like new head coach Molefi Ntseki is also trying to secure the futures of those who are already at the club.

In a balancing act, Chiefs have also seen six players leaving their squad, the likes of Eric Mathoho, Siyabonga Ngezana, Phathutshedzo Nange, Cole Alexander, Khama Billiat, Austin Dube all leaving Naturena. Now according to the latest reports, they’re set to release a seventh in the shape of striker Caleb Bimenyimana. The Burundi international striker is believed to be close to joining Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca. It is thought that a deal has already been agreed by the two clubs, with just the personal terms now outstanding, on the player’s side.

With the release of Billiat and Bimenyimana also on his way out, Chiefs are believed to be moving rather swiftly in their efforts to secure the future of one of their key players in Ashley du Preez. Du Preez only joined Amakhosi last season, scoring nine goals in all competitions. Ntseki and his management are now looking to ensure he remains a Glamour Boy for an extended period!
CHIEFS TO OFFER DU PREEZ A NEW DEAL?
“Apparently, Ashley (du Preez) had signed a two-year contract in 2022 when he joined the club (Chiefs) and there was an agreement that if he scores 10 or more goals in the first season then they will discuss a new and improved deal, yes, he didn’t score 10 goals but he did enough to guarantee him a new deal and that’s why the team will table a new two-year deal which will then run until 2026. But they could add a one-year option too which will then keep him at the team until June 2027. I think if all goes well then this new deal should be finalised before December this year. As I have said, it will be an improved contract from the initial one and as soon as they have agreed I will let you know,” said the source to Soccer-Laduma.

It is unlikely that Chiefs would’ve spent big money on du Preez, only to give him a two year deal. The former Stellenbosch FC star, will be hoping to shrug of his current injury and score double figures this season.
