SA men’s water polo side suffers another loss at World Aquatics Championships

The South African men’s water polo team has suffered its third heavy group stage defeat at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan. The South African men’s water polo team has suffered its third heavy group stage defeat at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.

The side went down 27-6 to Spain on Friday.

The scores by quarter were 8-2, 7-2, 8-2, 4-0.

The SA men’s previously lost 30-5 against Serbia on Wednesday and 35-10 against Montenegro in their opening match on Monday.

In their three group matches the SA men’s side scored 21 goals while conceding 92.

The SA men’s side will now play Argentina in the 13th-16th-place semi-finals on Sunday, 23 July at 03:30 (SA time).

Meanwhile, the South African women’s water polo team ended their group stage campaign on a winning note on Thursday.

The side beat Argentina 12-9.

The scores by quarter were 2-2, 5-3, 2-2, 3-2.

The side will now face Canada in the playoffs on Saturday, 22 July at 11:30 (SA time).

The winner of that match will go on to face the Netherlands in the quarter-finals, while the loser will drop into the playoff bracket for ninth to 12th places.
