Several people were injured when a MyCiTi bus smashed into a popular CBD coffee shop in Cape Town.
WATCH AS SEVERAL PEOPLE WERE INJURED
The bus smashed into the front of the award-winning Truth Coffee Roasting coffee bar on Buitenkant Street in Cape Town’s CBD on Monday.

The accident occurred shortly before 19:00 when the bus was on its usual route through the city.

According to reports, the bus driver claimed a rock was thrown at the bus, causing him to swerve into the cars and coffee bar.
IT IS BELIEVED A ROCK WAS THROWN AT THE BUS
However, there hasn’t been any official word on the possible cause of the crash.
There has been an increase in attacks on buses.

THERE HAS BEEN AN INCREASE OF ATTACKS ON BUSES
The City of Cape Town recently published statistics on assaults against MyCiTi bus services spanning from November 2022 to January 2023.
The data reveals that during this period, 72 MyCiTi buses were targeted by stone-throwing incidents, with the N2 Express routes between the Civic Centre station and Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha experiencing the highest number of attacks.

An award of up to R5 000 is offered to those who help with information that will lead to the arrest and successful conviction of criminals who sabotage and destroy the City’s assets.
