Zenzo Ngqobe won the Best Actor award for his role as Kebakile for the high-profile Botswana short film ‘Partly Cloudy & Hot‘ in Toronto, Canada.

ZENZO NGQOBE: RIDING THE HIGH

The seasoned actor best known for his role as Stone in e.tv’s popular drama series Rhythm City, has recently received a prestigious international award. The awards were held at a glamorous red-carpet ceremony in Toronto, Canada. The event was held at the Panemonte Banquet Centre and was partly hosted by the Black Actors Guild of Canada.

They recognized Ngqobe’s outstanding performance in the high-profile Botswana short film, ‘Partly Cloudy & Hot‘ (PCH). The film was written and executive-produced by Donald Molosi and showcases Ngqobe’s talent alongside model and actress Kaone Kario, who made her impressive movie debut in the production.

“PCH is a global story… if it inspires someone out there, it’s a good thing. This short film shows how we interconnect in life as humans,”

PARTLY CLOUDY & HOT: A CINEMATIC HIT

In June, ‘Partly Cloudy & Hot‘ had its premiere at the Roxbury International Film Festival in the United States. There it received acclaim from audiences and critics alike. The film’s success has been attributed to Ngqobe’s outstanding performance, in which he performed entirely in Setswana. This language is not commonly utilized in international cinema but won big.

ZENZO NGQOBE: I AM FOR AFRICA

Ngqobe’s award also sparks discussions about his cultural identity, as, the actor is a Motswana with South African citizenship. When asked whether his win should be considered a Botswana or South African achievement. Ngqobe firmly stated,

“My win is for Africa. I am for Africa. Both South Africa and Botswana are home to me. I still don’t really know what separates them. This win is for Africa because I am for Africa
