SOCIAL ASSISTANCE MOSTLY USED FOR FOOD
According to a research brief, child support grants are the most common. Global evidence suggests that these grants reduce child hunger, reduce poverty and improve the child’s school attendance.
In general, SASSA grants are typically spent on food. The money is paid from the second day of the month or the closest working day.
The pension (older person’s grant) is paid first, followed by the disability and children’s grants. All other grants, including the R350 grant, which no longer has a fixed date, are paid from the third day of grant disbursement.
WHEN ARE THE JULY 2023 SASSA GRANT PAYMENT DATES?

HOW TO ACCESS THE MONEY
With the exception of the R350 grant, normal grants can still be collected from post office branches. However, all grants can also be withdrawn from ATMS or pay points at selected retail partners such as Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay, Boxer, and Shoprite U-Save.
Beneficiaries can also use the SASSA gold card for purchases and transactions like a normal debit card.
SASSA urges recipients to have the funds directly deposited into their accounts as it is the most convenient payment method.
