The three G4S employees who allegedly helped convicted serial rapist and murderer Thabo Bester escape from prison are due in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 28 June.

THREE MORE ALLEGED BESTER ACCOMPLICES NABBED
Bester escaped from the G4S-managed Mangaung Correctional Centre (MCC), where he was serving a life sentence plus 75 years, in May 2022.
Eight of the 12 suspects arrested in connection with the escape are linked to the security company.

The three men – aged 47 and 37 – were arrested at their homes in Bloemfontein on Monday night. National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the trio would face charges of assisting an inmate to escape from lawful custody, violation of a corpse and corruption.
FURTHER ARRESTS POSSIBLE
Mathe added that the possibility of further arrests cannot be ruled out. Bester and his co-accused last appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on 20 June, and the matter was postponed to 8 August for further investigation.
