According to the KingFut website, Al Ahly clinched a record 11th CAF Champions League title after securing a late 1-1 draw with Wydad Casablanca at the Mohammed V Stadium, having won the first-leg 2-1 in Cairo.
Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns were knocked out in the semi-finals by Wydad after a 0-0 draw in the first-leg in Morocco and a 2-2 stalemate in South Africa.

However, the South African giants had a chance to knock Al Ahly out of the tournament in the group stages had they lost to Al-Hilal in Sudan, but the two teams ended up playing a 1-1 draw after Ronwen Williams saved a late penalty from Ather El-Tahir.
“Sundowns had the best team; they had the best moments and they played well,” Pitso Mosimane said as per Sunday World.
“They played beautifully with flair, but it takes more than that to win the Champions League. It takes more than talent to win it – it also takes maturity from both players and the coach.
“The Champions League is not about how good you are, it is about being at the right place at the right time and doing the right things at the time.
“Al Ahly were a little stronger this year, but Sundowns smashed them 5-2.
“You do not allow Al Ahly back into the tournament. They just needed to beat Wydad and I expected them to win, I do not want to talk about these things because if you talk about them, it’s a double-edged sword and it’s like you’re sarcastic.”
