The Woolies brand is synonymous with luxury and quality here in South Africa. In fact, people who shop at the retailer more often than not believed to be the upper class of SA society. And now a TikToker has proved that the retailer caters to SA’s wealthy after she found a small tub of La Mer face cream on the Woolworths website for a whopping R42k.
The discovery has rendered many speechless as they wondered who in the country splurges that much money on face cream.

R42K LA MER FACE CREAM SOLD AT WOOLIES SHOCKS SA
For many, spending thousands on skincare is just not justifiable. While most would love to take good care of their skin, they can barely afford to make ends meet as it is.
It looks like there are a small percentage of South Africans blowing big money on skincare after a TikToker discovered that Woolies sells La Mer face cream for a cool R42k.
La Mer is a luxury skincare product which is infused with sea kelp which heals dry skin, improves skin’s natural barrier, and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, according to their website.

This was still a big shocker to the TikToker who shared a post about the cream and its price.
What was even more surprising then the price of the cream is the fact that 7000 reviews were below the product — meaning that 7000 people actually bought the cream for that price.
“Leave the R42 000, why did 7000 people decide to buy it #woolworths #woolies #woolworth #cremedelamer #R40000lotion,” she captioned her clip.
