Other passengers who had travelled with Harding were Ocean Gate CEO Stockton Rush, Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Shahzada Dawood, and his 19-year-old son Suleman Dawood. They were on their way to see the famous wrecked Titanic ship up close and personal. In order to reach the wrecked ship, they reportedly had to descend about 4 000 meters which was expected to take about two hours. MORE ABOUT THE OCEAN GATE’S SUBMARINE
According to the New York Post, the submarine was said to have only been equipped with 96 hours of oxygen. Experts who commented on the matter reportedly said that after the passengers realised they had been lost, they could have panicked in the 22-foot-long submarine and used up the oxygen much faster than it was intended to last.
The New York Times recently reported that pieces of the Ocean Gate submarine have been found on the bottom of the ocean floor, about 1 600 feet from the bow of the Titanic. The five passengers are expected to have died due to the “consistent catastrophic implosion” of the vessel.
