FOSTER AIMS TO FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF SOUTH AFRICAN FOOTBALL GREATS

According to TimesLive, 22-year-old Foster moved to the Championship side Burnley for nearly £8.4 million (R200m)

McCarthy, who is arguably the greatest South African footballer of all time, previously held the rank as the country’s most expensive export.

Former Manchester City Captain Vincent Kompany, who manages Burnley, guided the side back to the big time just one season after relegation from the Premier League.

ADVICE FROM MCCARTHY

In an interview with TimesLive, Foster said he had been taking advice from Manchester United first-team coach, McCarthy.

“I’m just happy to be able to speak to a legend like Benni, and he has given me some personal advice and pointers,” said Foster to the publication.

The striker said he hopes to cement his place in the side and added that he would love to “cement” his name alongside McCarthy, Lucas Radebe and Steven Pienaar – other compatriots who enjoyed illustrious careers in the same league.

Foster scored one goal in 15 Championship appearances for Burnley, but he said he doesn’t allow the statistics to affect his feelings too much, otherwise he would’ve given up a long time ago.
