Girl, 11, survives terrible freak accident in Paarl

An 11-year-old girl survived a HORRIFIC accident when a 20-ton construction vehicle dropped its loads on her family’s vehicle.

WATCH AS THE HORRIFIC FREAK ACCIDENT HAPPENED IN PAARL

The freak accident happened in Paarl last week.

According to the Drakenstein Farm Watch (DFW), a big construction vehicle, weighing at least 20 tons while dropping its load during roadworks, fell sideways on top of a passing vehicle.

The incident took place on the Paarl R301 to Franschoek opposite Boschandmeer Estate around 14.23.

THE 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL WAS ENTRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE

“The heavy truck trailer flattened the passenger side of the vehicle, entrapping a young primary school girl in her seat.

“Her father miraculously climbed out of the vehicle with light head injuries and scratches, fearing the worst for his daughter, not leaving her side for a moment.”

HER FATHER MIRACULOUSLY CLIMB OUT OF THE VEHICLE WITH LIGHT INJURIES

The DFW said the rest of DFW Emergency volunteer Responders rushed to the scene to assist DFW commander R.Borbon Lefty and volunteer responder Ricardo Cant, as they were the first responders on scene, and gave detailed info of the crash, and a full-scale rescue operation was requested.

“The entire rescue operation lasted more than 2 hours, conducted by multiple rescue teams from different organisations.

“They all worked well together and gave it their best to rescue the young girl.

“Finally, after carefully tilting and lifting the truck and cutting the vehicle to pieces, the girl was freed.”

The 11-year-old girl was loaded into an ambulance and transported to hospital.

The police will investigate this freak accident.

THE GIRL WAS FREED AND TRANSPORTED TO A NEARBY HOSPITAL
