After the mutilated bodies of two missing children from Soweto were found yesterday morning, the DA has demanded that Gauteng SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, urgently launches a manhunt for the suspects.
According to SAPS, Mawela has mobilised resources following the discovery of the gruesome murders.
The children – aged five and six years old – had been reported missing the evening before their bodies were found.
SAPS said:
“On the evening of 19 April 2023, the two boys were reported missing at Moroka police station. A search team involving all relevant stakeholders including search and rescue was activated. (Yesterday) morning the lifeless bodies of the kids were found mutalated. One was discovered in White City, while the other was discovered later in Rockville.
Crezane Bosch – DA Gauteng Shadow MEC for Community Safety – said on Friday:
“Far too often, we have been hearing cases of young children who go missing and more often than not they are found deceased. This is a clear indication that the lives of our children are at risk and therefore, it is of utmost importance – more than ever – that our communities look out for our children.
“We urge the community of White City and Rockville in Soweto to please come forward with any information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.”
