Reach For a Dream Foundation
Mission
Fulfilling dreams for children with life threatening diseases.
We believe in the power of dreams. We encourage children to use their dreams to fight life-threatening illnesses. And we seek as far as possible to make dreams come true.
Founder
The inspiration came from an article on the Make – A – Wish Foundation, based in America. Owen Parnell, past Randburg Rotary Club President, was struck by the opportunity to establish a similar venture in South Africa. On 7 July 1988, the organisation made it’s very first dream come true. So the journey of dream fulfillment began.
The Story Behind It
Reach For A Dream fulfils the dreams of children between the ages of 3 and 18 who have been diagnosed as having a life-threatening illness by a medical practitioner. We do not discriminate based on race, culture, financial status or any other factor.
Our vision is to grow the Foundation, enabling us to continue giving hope to children fighting life-threatening illnesses through the fulfillment of their dreams, and to further help as many children facing these illnesses though our national projects such as our Camp Sunshine, Queen For A Day, Captain Courage, Tracy Fun Centres and our Jabulani Kingdom Hospital entertaining projects that all function on an ongoing basis.
