Watching the South African national anthem – Nkosi Sikelil’ iAfrika – being sung anywhere can give you chills, but it was extra special on Saturday (2 July ’22) at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria… sung by the first packed stadium back home since the Springboks won the Rugby World Cup in 2019.
SA Rugby says there were 51,762 spectators at this, the first local Test where spectators were allowed since August 2019. Watch below for goosebumps. (Made extra-special knowing that – after a nail-biting match – South Africa beat Wales in the Castle Lager Incoming Series Test match by 32-29 (despite the visitors holding an 18-3 lead at the break!).
