The South African Weather Service has warned that an intense Cold Front will make landfall in the Western Cape on early Monday morning, 13 July 2020.
“Large waves, gale force to strong gale force winds (65-100km/h) are expected with flooding possible in the SW Cape. The marine and coastal communities should take extreme precaution,” said SAWS.
The national weather service said the main impacts will be from wind, and urged residents to stay safe.
Warnings for Monday include high seas with waves reaching 6 to 12 metre heights between Lambert’s Bay and Plettenberg Bay, spreading to Port Alfred. This is expected to subside from the west on Tuesday.
Heavy rain, leading to flooding, is expected over Cape Town, the Western Cape Winelands and western Overberg.
