The plane will form an integral part of KidZania Johannesburg, opening in December 2018.

Kidzania is the world’s fastest growing edutainment brand, and Joburg is set to host the first KidZania Centre on the planet that will have an entire plane “where our visitors will be able to learn and experience different aviation activities”, said KidZania Joburg.

According to South African traffic regulations, abnormal transport can only move between sunrise and sunset… and as the current journey is set to take 12 hours, the plane had to set off at 05h00, causing a ‘few’ disruptions to morning traffic.

Traffic delays are expected between Johannesburg and Pretoria – Jet Park, Isando‚ Choolorkop‚ Midrand‚ Dainfern and Fourways (particularly on Olifants / Summit and William Nicol).

KidZania is an indoor entertainment chain which began years ago in Mexico and is already hugely popular around the world, from the UK to Japan, Korea to Brazil.

It comprises of a mini-city where kids from 2-14 get to pretend to be adults, and try out their dream jobs – with 100 exciting careers on offer from being a fireman to a journalist, pilot or surgeon – in a way that “empowers, inspires and educates kids”.

The Fourways KidZania will be 8‚000m² in size.

Kidzania Joburg said: “We cannot contain our excitement…”
