Now according to the latest reports, Pirates are set to announce a deal for a third ‘signing’ of the window, with this one though, coming from within. According to Soccer-Laduma, the buccaneers have reached an agreement with Ghanaian international goalkeeper Richard Ofori who is now set to stay on at Mayfair on a three-year extension.
PIRATES SET TO EXTEND OFORI’S DEAL
“Believe me, the new deal is done. It’s just up to the team to announce but you know how things work at Pirates, mainly if it’s renewing a contract. They don’t like saying it. It’s an in house issue. But, yes, they have agreed a new improved deal and Ofori will be one of the best paid players not only at Pirates but in the league as well. t’s a three-year deal according to the information I have but it could be even more than that with an option to extend or things like that,” the source said to the same publication.

If this piece of information proves to be true, then Pirates are set to have a very powerful goalkeeping department for next season. In the absence of Ofori, Sipho Chaine received the confidence of coach Jose Riveiro and became the first choice keeper for the Sea Robbers. Adding to that, Buthelezi comes into the side with the reputation of being one of the best and most consistent goalkeepers from the previous season.

It will be interesting to see how Riveiro handles the goalkeeping situation now, but with Pirates competing on five fronts next season, there could be enough game time for all in question.
