SAWS Reports Fourth Tornado in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa This Month!

A fourth tornado has struck South African soil this month, November 2019… as the South African Weather Service (SAWS) reports yet another made touch down on Saturday late afternoon near the Ulundi area in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

Social media user Azania WaAfrika (@sakhilemagalela), a researcher and reporter who captured photos of the tornado said that fortunately no people or livestock were injured, and no property was damaged.

Saturday’s tornado follows one late last night that wreaked havoc and caused destruction as it tore through the Utrecht area. This month a tornado also hit the New Hanover area in KZN, leaving hundreds homeless, and another tornado was spotted over Bergville.

SAWS had issued a warning on Saturday afternoon which stated: “A very strong severe storm is currently moving over the Ulundi area in KZN. Please note that this storm could lead to damaging winds and large hail. It is moving south-east. Warning has been issued.”

WaAfrika responded with photos looking reminiscent of the ‘Wizard of Oz’, saying: “Already experiencing this at Ulundi, at eDlebe Village.”

SAWS has issued further Warnings of severe thunderstorms in KZN tomorrow (except the extreme south), as well as in parts of Limpopo (which had heavy rains this morning, particularly over the Kruger National Park) and Mpumalanga.
