South African professional surfer Jordy Smith surfed his way into history on Tuesday… by riding two of the best waves to perfection for two 10 point rides… coming away with the first perfect heat in J-Bay history.

Fantastic that it was a South African that pulled it off!

Jordy said it he felt “absolutely phenomenal”, just being in J-Bay, and that the “waves are firing”. He humbly added that “I was just fortunate to get the bombs… to get that barrell section that opened up and let my big rig through it.”

Jordy now joins an elite club of surfers that have managed to pull off the perfect 20… “Absolutely amazing… never in my wildest dreams I would have ever thought to be in  that club… and to do it right here at Jbay is extra special,” he said.

In Jordy’s next heat, surfing had to be called off after two shark sightings came, just two years after Australian surfer Mick Fanning’s famous close encounter with a shark in the same waters!
