Local residents and parents have been paying tribute to a life tragically lost yesterday when 16-year-old Constantia Waldorf schoolgirl, Franziska Blöchliger, was murdered in Tokai Lower Forest in Cape Town, South Africa. And the support of the community for the family was evident today during a radio interview with her father.
Andreas Florian Blöchliger said he is Swiss and came to South Africa 20 years ago. He and his wife Shireen, who is ‘coloured’, own the Chartfield Guesthouse in Kalk Bay which proudly celebrates the combination of the couple’s “very diverse cultures”, claiming to be a “true representation of modern South African society”.
Blöchliger said today that South Africa had given him his wife and daughters…and now ripped one from him. Yesterday at 17:26 he had posted a message on Facebook saying: “My daughter is missing. Is there [any] one who knows how to illegally track a cell phone. if [so] please call me or my wife.”
Locals have been rallying around the family since the horrific incident, with one man – whose own wife was killed eight years ago – phoning in to the radio show to reassure the girl’s father that the police will catch the perpetrator/s.
“People have also been leaving flowers and beautiful, heartfelt messages,” says Cape Town blogger Girl.Unplugged.
“Some are visibly shaken and upset. Others observing a respectful silence,” she says.
According to Girl.Unplugged, residents in Cape Town are doing whatever they can to assist “including one local gentleman who is flying his drones to see if he can uncover any further clues to assist investigators”.
