South Africa’s next match is on Wednesday at London’s Olympic Stadium when they play the USA.
Although the USA have not won a single game yet in this world cup, coach Heyneke Meyer and captain Fourie du Preez warned against any celebrations yet as this next Pool B match is crucial and will be “another tough battle”.
The South African team, who left Newcastle for London today, will have one proper training session before facing the USA, said Heyneke. He praised Fourie, saying “he was brilliant” for the role he played in Saturday’s win.
It was Fourie’s first time captaining the national side. He said “it’s been an unbelievable experience for me to captain this wonderful team” but stressed “we have to beat the USA to keep alive our chances of reaching the playoffs.”
