Firefighters in Alberta, Canada, have expressed gratitude and awe for the South African firefighters who have joined them to help fight fires this season.
The Alberta Wildfire facebook page posted a video of the South Africans’ morning chant, with a message saying: “Wildland firefighters from South Africa sure know how to start the work day off right!
“This traditional song and march is part of their daily routine.”
At the time the video was taken, on Wednesday, the South Africans were assisting wildland firefighters from Alberta and around the world to control a wildfire burning along Highway 754 in Canada.
The group of South African firefighters have been helping battle several wildfires in the northern part of the province.
The Canadians said that their morning ritual helps lighten the mood. In the last week firefighters have been battling 84 wildfires in the province of which three were deemed out of control.
