DEATH THREATS ON MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS

Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi says he has been receiving death threats.

Speaking to eNCA, Motsoaledi emphasises that he is treating the matter of the death threats with utmost seriousness and has escalated it to the attention of the Hawks for investigation.

Motsoaledi stated that he had reported the threats to the Hawks immediately after the threats were made to him, and the Hawks have been running with the case.

Motsoaledi was asked by eNCA, on how many times were made to him, he responded that it was only once.

Motsoaledi revealed that he has been receiving unsettling calls from an unidentified individual who alleges being hired to harm him.

The caller demanded more payment to spare his life, creating a concerning situation for Motsoaledi.

“This particular one was one individual he was phoning six up to eight times daily.”

“He said he was sent to assassinate me. They have paid him money, and he wanted me to pay more so he can assassinate the people who sent him rather than me,” said Motsoaledi.

Motsoaledi still has no clue what the motive behind his assassin threat.

The Hawks have been investigating the matter, and he feels they have made a lot of progress, but he stated that he can’t disclose any information about the investigation.

NALEDI PANDOR: FAMILY THREATS AMID ICJ CASE VS. ISRAEL

Naledi Pandor, the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, revealed that she and her family have been subjected to threats following South Africa’s legal action against Israel, alleging violations of the Genocide Convention at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

According to Peoples dispatch, Pandor, known for her vocal support of the Palestinian cause, expressed concerns about her family’s safety amidst heightened security measures.

She mentioned receiving threats on social media targeting her children, prompting her to take additional precautions.

“The Israeli agents, intelligence services, this is how they behave, and they seek to intimidate you…we must not be intimidated. There is a cause that is underway,” she said.

“The people of the world and of Palestine didn’t draw back when the apartheid state was at its worst. They stood with the liberation movement so we can’t stand back now. We must be with them and one of the things we must not allow is a failure of courage.”

Not only did Israel call the South African government the “legal arm of Hamas” and spread bizarre misinformation that Iran had somehow funded its case at the ICJ, Pandor stated recently that Israel had also called her an ISIS supporter.

“We will strive on. As long as the people of Palestine know we as South Africa are with them, we will strive on.”

In its initial ruling on 26 January, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) supported South Africa’s case against Israel and granted the requested provisional measures.

These measures include instructing Israel to take all necessary actions to prevent acts falling under the Genocide Convention, such as killing, causing harm, or imposing conditions of life aimed at the physical destruction of the Palestinian people.
